Project Title: Participation of RAE community in implementation of “Strategy for Integration of RAE community, 2009- 2015, in Gjakova Municipality

Project Concept:
Through this project, BSC offers assistance as a organization towards RAE communities in the form of education and their mobilization towards an overall avocation versus local and central institutions aiming to improve their situation in the locations where they live in the Municipality of Gjakova.
Our engagement in this direction will simultaneously be in line with the document of Strategy for Integration of RAE Communities 2009-2015, by influencing the actions in the eleven sectors that came out of the strategy, identified as priorities for community development.

Project Title: Communication between local governance and citizens through establishing the local councils
Project Duration: 9 months

Project Concept:
The overall concept of the organization is establishment of local councils as a necessity for building the communication between local governance and citizens, as it is foreseen by the highest charter of the municipality, the Statute.
By establishment and functionality of local councils, the relationship citizen – council – municipality and vice versa is created, and through this relationship, a better and more efficient governance is ensured.

Project Title: Right for free access
Project Duration: 7 months

Project Concept:
Project aims to reactivate acoustic traffic lights were out of order within one year; as a consequence of lack of maintenance from the responsible company, and this hindered the free movement of blind people.
By reactivating the existing acoustic traffic lights and installing new equipments a blind citizen would much easier move within the town, he/she would not have the need for a accompanier, as the released sound from the traffic light will ease the street crossing without any hazard for the blind people.

Project Concept:
The project “Raise your Voice” aims to influence the municipal institutions in the implementation of 2 approved regulations related to protecting the environment. The influence will be reached by involving two working groups of all the relevant stakeholders for the realization of respective regulations.

NGO Name: Association of person with children paralyses, “Handicap Kosova”, Prishtina
Project Title: Monitoring the implementation of the National Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities
Project Duration: 1 year
Project budget: USD 12,125.30

Project Concept:
Handicap through this project aims to oversee the implementation of the National Plan in Prishtina Municipality that will improve the living conditions and social welfare of persons with disabilities. Additionally, this project will push forward the completion of Local Action Plan which is initiated by the Local Coalition “OKTAGON” which is consisted of eight Nongovernmental Organizations involved in Prishtina municipality, of which is also the NGO “Handicap Kosova”.
Throughout the work of compiling the Local Action Plan, apart from the representatives of Coalition “OKTAGON”, this work is also participated by the representatives of Municipal Departments and officials of Prishtina Municipality.

NGO Name: With Hand in Heart, Mitrovica
Project Title: Active citizen participation in decision making process in local level contributes in good governance
Project Duration: 1 year
Project budget:USD 14,977.36

Project Concept:
Throughout this project organization aims to raise the awareness of citizens (focus groups) on their rights and obligations in the field of public policy on the municipal level. This will be accomplished through open meetings in the villages of Mitrovica municipality while, the same aspect except informational meetings will also serve the selection of two representatives from each village for the consultative council on the level of communities. Depending on the possibilities, the inclusion of women representatives in the councils will be a project objective. Throughout this period a total of 48 meetings will be realized, which means in all villages and one in a neighborhood of Mitrovica.

ProjectConcept:
This organization throughout this project aims to persuade Kosovo Government to take action by establishing a mechanism whose responsibility would be to mark and present the Republic of Kosovo as a separate entity to the World Wide Web through well organized process of official requests, lobbying and petitioning. This mechanism’s job would be to organize a group of officers, consultants or volunteers who will work in organized manner in having Kosovo listed as a country or at the very least as a separate entry in the content of all the relevant web sites, be it a drop-down box, menu, list or an interactive map.

Project Title: Youth for active participation in decision making process
Project Duration: 1 year

ProjectConcept:
Throughout this project organization will struggle to increase involvement of youth in decision-making process at the local level. There is urgent need of functionality of Youth Action Council of Prishtina, the licensing of a youth center that operates within the territory of the municipality of Prishtina and recognition of voluntary work of the young people of Prishtina. Organization aims to exert pressure on the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Prishtina Municipality to begin the implementing of Law on Youth Empowerment for the above listed reasons, namely the implementation of Article 7, 12 and 14 of this law.

Project Title: Drafting the regulation for Eco-taxes in municipality of  Gjakova
Project Duration: 1 year
Project budget:USD 16,888.74

ProjectConcept:
The poject presented by the organization with the citizen engagement seeks to analyze environmental problems, where do they come from and who are the main polluters, will contribute in solving environmental problems in the future. By compiling the draft regulation for Eco - Taxes and its approval by Gjakova Municipal Assembly a legal basis for promoting the establishment of a healthy environment for citizens of the municipality would be established as well as a financial basis that such tax would first serve for greenery or environment protection. This regulation will include the following: provisions for environmental protection, exploitation of natural resources, environmental safeguards, compensation for any legal or physical person which with his/her activity is polluting the environment, setting the tax for individuals, large and small businesses, and punitive provisions.
