"NEW KOSOVO PLANT - ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION"

Organized by the advocacy coalition "Environmental Ambassadors", conference was held in Obilic "New Kosovo Plant - economic development and environmental protection", attended by representatives of local and international institutions, leaders of civic initiatives for clean environment, citizens of the Obilic municipality etc.

In this conference was suggested that Kosovo energy experts and residents of Obiliq are against building 2100 MW power plant. They accuse the government that they are discriminated against, as are not questioned at all and are left at the crossroads. Luan Shllaku (KFOS) from Forum 2015, said the seriousness of the government and political parties for the realization of this project is only a matter of electoral and political slogans, while Shyqri Dumani said in no way the government has accepted advice or opinions of its group of experts.

He said that these power plants not only cause bad environment with smoke, but they also realise sort of harmful other chemical elements.

Sabit Restelica, from Kosovo Agency for Environmental Protection found that the reports and analysis show great ecological damage, which according to him, existing power plants pollute the environment in 30 km area, while new plant construction hits areas of Obiliq environment, Prishtina, Fushe Kosove to Lipjan.

At this table, joint conclusion of the participants for the New kosovo plant was to built-in capacity of 600 megawatts, not in the 2100 MW project as proposed by the Government.
